Equal Access Of Beekeepers To Pasture Resources In The Kyrgyz Republic

Beekeeping is an important branch of agriculture, aimed at bee breeding to produce valuable products such as honey, pollen, beeswax, royal jelly, which are useful for human health. Beekeeping also benefits the entire area, as bees help to pollinate plants, including agricultural crops. Beekeeping contributes to preservation of biodiversity and sustainable use of natural resources, prevents extinction of rare and endemic species of plants and improves the natural revegetation of pastures; it has an influence upon increase of productivity of wild and crop plants.

In Kyrgyzstan, the number of beekeepers sharply reduces every year for various reasons, one of which is lack of access to pasture resources because of disputes with the chabans (shepherds) and other pasture users. This happens because of weak normative - legal framework, which does not take into account the needs and regulate rights of beekeepers, as equal users of pasture resources.
