The Director of RDF participated in a regional seminar on strategic cooperation in the forestry sector

The chief of PF RDF Omorbekova Z.A. participated in a Regional seminar on strategic cooperation in the forestry sector of Central Asia countries, which was held from 23-24 of September, 2014 in Beijing city. Organization of this activity was performed by Asia-Pacific Network for Sustainable Forest Management and Rehabilitation (APFNet).  The seminar was attended by representatives of state bodies in forest management from 7 countries: Mongolia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, as well as experts from international organizations.

Purpose of the event

The aim of this seminar was information and experience exchange of forests resources management, their rehabilitation, transboundary biodiversity conservation. Particular attention was paid to identifying problems and opportunities for sustainable forest management in the region, the development of a strategy for cooperation in the forestry sector and the establishment of a mechanism for regional dialogue by forest sectors development in Central Asia.

Additional activities

For participants was organized study tour from 25-26 of September to Autonomous Region “Internal Mongolia” in Chifeng. The aim of this visit was to learn experience of forests protective Syaohuanshan - a joint project of China and Germany, as well as a set of measures to prevent desertification along highways and Tuha Naji khoshun Vennyut.

Participants got acquainted with scientific and technical work of Huanyanva company, which cultivates fodder on 6000 hectares and produces seeds. As well participants saw the experience of scientific and technical Shamochzhihua company that produces more than 20 kinds of environmentally friendly products from the sea buckthorn, almonds, and apricots. About 4500 farms supply the raw materials to this company.

In China high meaning is paid to vegetation rehabilitation on the mining tailings. For example, on mine field Gushan of Pinchzhuan village were planted more than 20 species of native trees and shrubs. For seedling were used modern technologies such as using of synthetic liquid foil for soil’s temperature increasing and evaporation’s  reducing, drip irrigation.

As well as participants got familiar with greenhouses, that works just with solar energy heating and where fruits are growing.
