Project implementation period: 21.04.2020-21.05.2020
The Initiative “Kadam” during the COVID-19 was aimed at supporting families in Kyrgyzstan to strengthen humanitarian response and improve psychosocial well-being through the Network of traditional heritage safe guardians “Kyrgyz El Akyl Kazyna”- KEAK.
The activities of the Initiative “Kadam” were divided into three stages:
At the first stage, the RDF team held online meetings with KEAK regional leaders, where they discussed the goals, tasks and details of implementing this Initiative “Kadam”. As a result of these meetings, members of KEAK have decided to apply the traditional philosophy, to turn to the origins of nomadic culture in order to mitigate the overcoming of difficult situations, which were used by our ancestors in difficult times.
At the second stage, members of KEAK in Tokmok town sew the disposable masks. In addition, the members of the Network have prepared bags with medicinal herbal tea, as well as juniper and wild rue. The process of distributing disposable masks, medicinal herbal tea and nomadic dishes were accompanied by preventive conversations to regulate psychosocial well-being through wisdom, advice and stories about the traditions of the people that helped them survive difficult times.
At the third stage, members of KEAK organized performance of famous personalities from regions, such as representatives of art, science, business and folk art with speeches addressing the citizens and interesting stories about patience, mutual assistance and self-control during difficult times. Also, the activities included online fairy tales, video presentation for school classes, stories about the tradition of family unity and friendship from safe guardians, members of KEAK and older generation about traditions and rituals, and all the activities were broadcasted on social media platforms (https://www.facebook.com/keakkyrgyzstan/, https://www.instagram.com/rdfkyrgyzstan/). The YouTube channel of RDF (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnY7tNQyxxmjl906iv98ygg), 3D Map Explorer (http://rdfmap.kg/), and personal experiences of KEAK members were invaluable contribution to the project.
