Regional Consultation on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework for Central and Eastern Europe in Serbia

Regional Consultation on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework for Central and Eastern Europe took place in Belgrade, Serbia, on 16-18 April, 2019.
The consultation was convened by the secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity and hosted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
In decision 14/34, the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity adopted a preparatory process for the development of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework and requested the Executive Secretary to facilitate its implementation. The process includes, among other elements of work, the organization of regional consultations to ensure a harmonized approach to the preparation of recommendations for the new framework and to facilitate further discussions of its components at the meetings of the Open-ended Intersessional Working Group on the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.
Participants from Albania Armenia Azerbaijan Belarus Bosnia and Herzegovina Georgia Kazakhstan Kyrgyzstan Montenegro North Macedonia Republic of Moldova Russian Federation Serbia Tajikistan Turkmenistan Ukraine Uzbekistan IPLCs relevant organizations have discussed the state of biodiversity and identified key issues and challenges in the region, provided guidance on the elements of work to facilitate the development of the new global biodiversity framework and its components, and have suggested ways to implement the new framework.
RDF also took part at the consultations and discussions, Kuluipa Akmatova on the 17th of April presented Kyrgyzstan in the “Integration of Approaches” section and spoke about the experience of RDF with local communities as a member of the Land of Snow Leopard Network https://snowleopardconservancy.org/sacred-species- sacred-s … /, as well as the Intenational Land Coalition-Asia Network https://www.landcoalition.org/en/regions/asia
